QCS organized the Antonov 124 full charter flight from Belgium to the USA. In collaboration with our USA project partner UTC Overseas, Inc. based in Wilmington, NC, QCS Quick Cargo Service GmbH has organized a full charter flight from Belgium to the USA. The cargo, consisting of a total of 50 tons of machines with a volume of 458 cubic meters, was shipped from Ostend, Bruges to Charlotte, North Carolina. One of the challenges lay in the oversized cargo pieces with a width of over 5 meters, a length of 7 meters and a height of 3.9 meters. The freight was originally intended as a sea freight shipment and some of it was already packaged for this purpose. Parts of the shipment were already in the port of Zeebrugge for loading onto a general cargo ship. The entire shipment had to be repacked from sea to air freight within a very short time – just two days. For this purpose, a 10-man team of packaging specialists was relocated from Germany to the Belgian North Sea coast. Further challenges included obtaining approval for over-width road transport from the Belgian approval authorities at short notice.

The flight was operated by Russian-based operator Volga-Dnepr. The QCS branch Quick Cargo Service in DĂĽsseldorf/Ratingen was responsible for organizing the charter flight with the second largest cargo aircraft in the world.
